U8 Black Round 2 Match report
U8 Black
Round 2 vs Glebe Greyhounds (Grey)
Jubilee Oval, Glebe
Greeted again by a warm sunny morning and nestled by the Harbour, this was a perfect atmosphere for a great match-up.
The boys showed up wearing their game faces. There were no cobwebs on the Blacks this week as they stormed the field. A furious first period saw the Blacks trailing slightly (if anyone was keeping score!) in a see-sawing display that saw the “pig skin” projected up and down the paddock.
Undeterred the team huddled together at the break and laid out a strategy to turn the game around. From that point on the game belonged to the Power.
The team put on a fabulous display of attack and defence. Riley was unstoppable at ferreting the ball and clearing it to his team mates. Steady hands from both Callum P and Ashton pulling down marks from on high ensured that the Power retained possession. Callum Mac, Ben, Max, Tiger, Henry, Zac and Xavier energised the team ensuring a flow of clean ball to the forwards throughout the game.
Callum P attacked the posts continuously and finished with 5 goals and a brace of behinds. He was well supported by Ehsan and Riley with 2 goals each and Ben who slotted a goal in the first period enabling the Power to remain competitive.
Last weeks prediction that the team would settle into their boots later in the season has come sooner than expected.
Well done, lads, you have the Power to win!
