Drummoyne Power U6 Auskick v Maroubra Saints
Round 5, Heffron Park
After an early rise, the Drummoyne Power U6 lads made their way into enemy territory and headed over to a chilly Heffron Park, home of the Maroubra Saints.
Rumour has it, the Saints coaching staff were up late friday night watching replays of our Power boys trying to figure how to stop this dominant U6 side.
The first quarter set the tone, and the strong midfield unit consisting of Oscar H, Oscar F, Harry and Isaac kept our forwards busy early littering them with plenty of ball.
When the Saints forwards got a glimpse of the ball, our powerful defensive unit of Frankie, Ned and Jeremy stopped them in their tracks every time.
Our first goal came from Oscar M (yes, there are 3 Oscars), who read the ball perfectly off the back of the pack from a forward entry and ran into an open goal. Jack, Jonah and Hunter provided consistent forward pressure and kept the goal umpire busy all quarter.
The second quarter started like the first ended with Frankie reading it perfectly out of the ruck, and kicked to Oscar H who slotted our first major for the quarter. It was raining goals in the second with Oscar F kicking three, Oscar H kicking two and Harry and Isaac also contributing. The backline of Jack, Oscar M, Jonah and Hunter were seen shivering at one stage and were a fair chance of catching a cold as our midfield of Frankie, Ned and Jeremy dominated and never gave their midfield a chance to kick it forward.
The third quarter was much of the same, and Hunter and Ned got into the action on the score card and gave the mighty Power boys a fantastic result for the morning.
The boys were awesome and everyone’s skills are improving, and it’s great to see them handballing and playing as a team.
Apologies if I missed anyone or missed a goal, still learning all the boys’ names.
See you all next week
Nathan (Oscar H’s dad)
