UPDATED: Round One Venue Change for Game at ADO (Newtown)

UPDATED: Important note regarding Round One games at Alan Davidson Oval on Saturday 1 April

Alan Davidson Oval has been CLOSED for Saturday’s games. Games for U5, U6, U7 and U8 have been MOVED to Russell Park, Drummoyne.

Unfortunately we have been unable to find an alternate venue for the U9 and U10 games scheduled for Alan Davidson Oval (Russell Park is too small) and these three games have been officially washed out. Families in these teams should check their emails from your teams for possible alternative arrangements.

Confirming: U5, U6, U7 and U8 matches against Newtown will now be played at Russell Park, Drummoyne at the same time as previously scheduled.

U9 Black, U10 Teal and U10 White games against Newtown have been cancelled.

Just a note about Russell Park – the field is the only one we could get and obviously does not have the full facilities of normal grounds. There will be no canteen facilities. (We thought it was more important to get the games played and we’re just grateful to Council for allowing us to use Russell Park.)

Auskick U5-U8 families, please come a little early if you can. Round One is chaotic at the best of times but the oval move will test us all! Please be ready to help set up fields.

As far as we are aware, games at Heffron, St Lukes and Trumper are all going ahead as planned.

This post is current as at 8pm, 31 March 2017.

Information for New Families

Unfortunately, our new family orientation sessions this year were cancelled (twice!) due to wet weather.

We apologise that we were not able to schedule this briefing session.

Please download the attached information. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

The draw, when released, will be available online via Sports TG (formerly Fox Sporting Pulse)

  • Sports TG website version
  • Sports TG also has a free app, available from the Apple App Store and Google Play, called Game Day Sports TG.

Instructions for finding your team on Game Day Sports TG.

Once you have logged in, select ‘find my team’ and then ‘Australian Football’. Search for ‘SJ Sydney Harbour City’ and then under the tab ‘competition’, and you will find a list of divisions.

Please note that that while your team colour may be black, white or teal, your division may be a different colour. Just look through all the entries for your age group for Drummoyne Power until you find it. Once you’ve found it once, press the star in the top right hand corner, and it will stay on the home screen of the app, so you don’t have to look for it again.

Also, the publication date for the draw is March 29. While it appears that the draw has been loaded ahead of time in some age groups, its veracity cannot be confirmed until March 29. Consider anything you see before then as a draft.

After March 29, the draw is considered the single source of truth. If there is ever any conflicting information about game times or locations, consult the online version of the draw.

AFL School Holiday Camps

We are often asked about options for AFL activities in the school holidays.

Here are several:

Sydney Uni has an AFL camp in the second week of the holidays: https://www.susf.com.au/shop/item/school-holiday-sports-camps

Full day AFL kicking masterclass with ex-Sydney Swan and now Head Coach of GWS AFLW, Tim Schmidt. These camps are for kids aged 8-14. There’s a camp at Centennial Park on 11 April. Details here: http://kickingdynamics.com.au/

ASC run footy camps at North Ryde and Daceyville: https://australiansportscamps.com.au/camps/football/

Sports Camps Australia is running a Junior AFL Camp at St Ignatius College Riverview (fourth field) from 20-21 April for boys and girls aged 6-15 years. There’s a 10% rebate, which goes to Drummoyne Power, if you say you’re from Power when you sign up. Details here: http://www.sportscampsaustralia.com.au/footycodes/afl/afl-football-camp-st.-ignatius-college-riverview/

This one is at our alternate ground of St Luke’s Oval, Concord (used by our youth teams). Great parking via Crane Street.

U5 Round 1

Updated 4pm 14 March: wet weather training

Auskickers from U5-U7, we’re playing it safe and moving you to Five Dock Indoor Cricket Centre for training at the special time of 4pm.

Training will be indoor from 4pm-5pm (the only time available).

Special call out for parent helpers today – some of our regular coaches can’t make the earlier time so please don’t hesitate to get involved.

U8, your training had been shifted by your age group coordinators to Thursday, with the special Swans Club Visit and Training Session. See you then. If you are desperate for a kick today, join in with the U7s.

The Five Dock Indoor Cricket Centre is located at Unit 1/126 Queens Road, Five Dock. Map reference here.

U9-U10 and Youth Girls: Five Dock Park has been reassessed by the Council and is now CLOSED. If your team/age group has a Plan B – perhaps a fitness session off-field – that will be communicated at a team level so please check your emails.

If these training sessions are outdoors, they MUST be cancelled if there is any thunderstorm activity. Safety is our priority.

U11 practice match at St Luke’s Oval Concord is cancelled.

Our Facebook page will be first with the news.
