$5,000 win for Drummoyne Power

Weetbix Win

We knew our Auskick Coordinator Megan Chandra was awesome… but now she’s $5,000 awesome!

Megan was the subject of the winning entry for the Weetbix “Community Mark of the Year” competition.

Just as the Weetbix “Mark of the Year” recognises the AFL player that soars above the pack, the “Community Mark of the Year” recognises the volunteer that reaches those extra heights for their Club.

Megan is rewarded with an AFL jersey of her choice, and the Drummoyne Power Junior AFL Club wins $5,000 to spend however it likes! (You can get a lot of footballs for $5,000!)

Thank you Sanitarium and Weetbix. And thanks Megan for the inspiring volunteer work you do for Drummoyne Power Junior AFL.

Guess what the favourite cereal for breakfast is at our house this morning?

Five Dock Volkswagen logo - Platinum Sponsor

Five Dock Volkswagen confirms for 2016

Drummoyne Power is pleased to announce that Five Dock Volkswagen has reconfirmed as a Platinum Sponsor of the Club for 2016.

Five Dock Volkswagen came on board as our principal sponsor in 2015, and the early confirmation of the company’s continued support assists us enormously in our planning for Season 2016.

Sponsors are vital for the ongoing financial viability of the Club, helping us to be sustainable and plan for continued growth, while keeping registration fees at a reasonable level.

Thank you, Five Dock Volkswagen and thank you to Dealer Principal Michael Della Franca. We’ve presented Michael with this framed Drummoyne Power jersey as a token of our appreciation.

Support the businesses that support your Club! If you are in the market for a new or used car, head down to Five Dock Volkswagen at 155-157 Parramatta Road, Five Dock to check out what they have on the floor (…and tell them you’re from the Power!).

U17 Premiership Team

U17: Premiers for 2015

2015 Premiership winners

Congratulations to our U17 Division 2 team for their victory in the 2015 Grand Final.

Our U17s defeated Newtown-Wests for the Premiership. Nine points behind at quarter time, the second quarter belonged to Drummoyne with the Power taking the lead 28 points to 24 at half time. At three-quarter time, Power led 7-4 (46) to 6-1 (37) but the Black Swans weren’t giving up and inched within 3 points of the lead, with just 5 minutes on the clock.

The Power came back strongly, with two goals to seal victory. The final score 10-7 (67) to 8-2 (50).

We had two other teams playing Grand Finals and while our U14/1 Canada Bay Cannons team and U18 Youth Girls did not win their respective games, they can be enormously proud of their seasons. A full gallery of photos is available on the Facebook pages of both Drummoyne Power and Canada Bay Cannons. Both pages can be viewed without a Facebook account.

Mamie and Jeremy: Life Members

New Life Members

New Life Members

Congratulations to our newest life members, Drummoyne Power President Jeremy Stanwix and Canteen Coordinator Mamie McLean.

Both were awarded life membership of Drummoyne Power in 2016 in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to the Club.

Jeremy has been President of the Club for the past two years, and prior to that was the Vice-President. He also a regular ground manager and, to top it off, was also the manager for the U18 Youth Girls team in 2015.

Mamie is known and loved by all in our Club. She has been the Canteen Coordinator for the past few years. As well as spending many hours in the canteen on home game days, Mamie is also responsible for all of the behind the scenes logistics in operating a canteen.

Thank you Jeremy and Mamie, we appreciate all you do.

(And well done to the Board, who managed to keep Jeremy’s life membership a secret from him until it was announced at the End of Season Function recently.)
